| Specimen | Mucosal biopsy specimen |
| Preferred | Mucosal biopsy specimens of approx 2-3 mm in size from both the antrum and the greater curvature of the stomach. |
| Acceptable | Patients must not take any antibiotics or bismuth salts for at least 3 weeks, nor ingest proton pump inhibitors in the 2 weeks prior to the biopsy. |

| Specimen Collection and Transportation | Directly imbedded into the gel on the test slide at 20-30°C |
